LifeSound Hearing Professionals

There are several, licensed hearing health professionals with different levels of expertise.  These include: otolaryngologists (ENT doctors), audiologists and hearing instrument specialists.

A hearing instrument specialist is a licensed professional who is trained to test for hearing loss.  They are also able to evaluate hearing loss and are experts in custom-fitting programing hearing aids.

Audiologists are now required to obtain a doctoral degree in audiology in order to sit for the licensing exam.  They do not hold a medical degree but they have similar responsibilities to hearing instrument specialists with specific expertise in hearing and balance disorders.

Known as ear-nose-throat doctors (ENTs), otolaryngologists are who are licensed to prescribe medication and perform surgeries related to the treatment of ear, nose, and throat disorders.
